NOVUS Health is pleased to announce Dr. Chanel M. Mitchell, Ph.D., LCSW as our newest Behavioral Health Specialist.

Dr. Mitchell joins our growing behavioral health team as a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) with over nine years in behavioral health. She received her Bachelor of Psychology from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University and her Masters and Doctor of Philosophy in Social Work from Saint Louis University. Her dissertation examined compassion fatigue among community mental health social workers.

Since 2013, she has served the greater St. Louis area with various mental health services to address substance abuse, trauma, depression, and anxiety. She is dedicated to creating a safe space for individuals to process what transpires through a supportive and non- judgmental environment. She is passionate about changing the narrative about mental health within marginalized communities. Helping others recognize the power they have is the cornerstone of her work philosophy so that she can help them realize their full potential and live the life they envisioned.

As our new Behavioral Health Specialist, Dr. Mitchell hopes to help cultivate a new narrative of what holistic and integrated mental health care looks like. Dr. Mitchell said, “I am passionate about helping others redefine and reshape their lives to live a more authentic view of themselves. I look forward to helping our patients and community unlock their full potential to achieve their goals.”

Amanda Williams, Community Health & Prevention Manager and Interim Behavioral Health Manager, said, “We are very excited to have Dr. Mitchell on board. She brings a wealth of experience in behavioral health as well as a strong commitment to community.” Read more about Dr. Mitchell here: https://novushealthstl.org/behavioral-health-providers/

We challenge each other to acknowledge biases that exist in healthcare including race, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, ethnicity, and/or personal beliefs. We look for ways to eliminate these biases at all points of service and care. As a team, NOVUS is working to break down barriers, build access, and create healthier communities.
